I designed this graphic entirely based off a series of journal sketches from travelling around Madrid. I created a graphic that I felt encompassed memorable aspects of the city. The line work alludes to the metro system that runs underneath the city and the elegant architecture that sits above, specifically the way that these modern and traditional aspects are intertwined in the city. I was also inspired by the way in which the geometric lines of the buildings fit in so well with the curved forms of the carved stonework which I tried to convey in my design, mirrored by the curved outer edges of the booklet.
